One-Day Hussaini Conference Organized by Hum Sukhan Cultural & Welfare Organisation Kashmir; Kashmiri Poetry Collection “Waer Daat” Unveiled

Hum Sukhan Cultural & Welfare Organisation Kashmir organized a grand One-Day Hussaini Conference, Hussaini Mushaira, and the prestigious unveiling ceremony of the Kashmiri poetry collection “Waer Daat” by renowned Sufi poet Syed Mohammad Ashraf Bukhari Roposh at Hotel Kehkashan, Amargarh, Sopore.
The event was held in a spiritually uplifting and intellectually enriching atmosphere, drawing eminent poets, writers, scholars, social activists, and devotees of Ahlul Bayt (AS) from across the Kashmir Valley.
The proceedings commenced with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an by Dr. Reyaz Rabbani Kashmiri, General Secretary of Hum Sukhan Cultural & Welfare Organisation Kashmir, followed by a soulful Na’at presented by Arsalan Reyaz in honour of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The conference was presided over by noted literary personality Shahnaz Rashid. The dignitaries on the dais included Maqbool Ferozi, Saleem Yousuf, Farooq Wagoori, and Syed Nadim Bukhari, President of Hum Sukhan Cultural & Welfare Organisation Kashmir.
Delivering the welcome address, Syed Nadim Bukhari paid rich tributes to Imam Hussain (AS) and the martyrs of Karbala, describing the tragedy of Karbala as the eternal symbol of truth, justice, sacrifice, patience, and steadfastness. He emphasized that the teachings of Imam Hussain (AS) are more relevant today than ever for promoting justice, tolerance, moral integrity, and humanity.
Besides highlighting the universal message of Karbala, he also shed light on the literary dimensions of Imam Hussain (AS), explaining how the Imam’s words continue to inspire generations through their eloquence, courage, and spiritual depth. During his address, he recited a few historic couplets attributed to Imam Hussain (AS) that were courageously delivered before the forces of tyranny moments before he embraced martyrdom, leaving the audience deeply moved.
A major highlight of the conference was the formal release of “Waer Daat,” the Kashmiri poetry collection of Syed Mohammad Ashraf Bukhari Roposh. On this occasion, Syed Nadim Bukhari presented a comprehensive introductory and critical review of the book, elaborating on its literary excellence, spiritual essence, artistic merit, and contribution to contemporary Kashmiri literature. The audience warmly appreciated the publication and hailed it as a valuable addition to Kashmiri literary heritage.
The keynote paper on the philosophy and universal message of Karbala was presented by Syed Shoukat Hashmi, Vice President of the organisation. He stated that Karbala is not merely a historical event but an everlasting victory of truth over oppression and an enduring symbol of human dignity, freedom, justice, and resistance against tyranny.
The conference was followed by a grand Hussaini Mushaira, during which poets offered heartfelt poetic tributes to Imam Hussain (AS), Ahlul Bayt (AS), and the martyrs of Karbala. Their inspiring verses filled the gathering with devotion, spirituality, and deep emotional reverence.
The poets who presented their works included Aaqib Razi, Mir Ghiyas-ud-Din, Fida Hussain Fida,Basharat Hafeez, Mohammad Akram, Gulshan Warisi, Shehzad Manzoor, Ashraf Gulkar, Rafaqat Hafeez, Saad Akbar, Jameel Yousuf, Ghulam Hussain Haqnawaz, Syed Mohammad Ashraf Bukhari Roposh, Mohi-ud-Din Dilawar, Maqbool Ferozi, Ameen Ashraf, Ilyas Azad, Saleem Yousuf, Johar Ramzan, Syed Nadim Bukhari, Syed Asadullah Safvi, Syed Shoukat Hashmi, Masoom Gulzar, Farooq Wagoori, Altaf Hussain Malik, Shoukat Alai, Shahnaz Rashid, Ghulam Nabi Dilnawaz, Muntazir Haigami, Rafiq Haigami, Dr. Reyaz Rabbani Kashmiri, Arsalan Reyaz, Bilal Mian, Burhan Fayaz, and several other distinguished poets.
Among the prominent guests present were Nisar Ahmad Baba, Sajjad Ahmad Bhat, Aashiq Hussain, Fatima Ilyas, Zeerat Hussain Malik, and many other respected personalities.
The proceedings were elegantly conducted by Dr. Reyaz Rabbani Kashmiri and Mohammad Akram, whose graceful moderation and literary command were widely appreciated by the audience.
In their concluding remarks, the speakers reaffirmed their commitment to continue organizing such intellectual, literary, and cultural programmes to promote the timeless ideals of Imam Hussain (AS)—truth, justice, sacrifice, brotherhood, tolerance, and human dignity.
