District Forests Kupwara Continue Green and Clean Campaigns under Ongoing SEWA PARV–202

Kupwara, Sept 21: As part of the ongoing SEWA PARV–2025 celebrations, the Forest Department Kupwara, in collaboration with allied departments and civil society, organized a series of impactful activities across the district to promote environmental stewardship and sustainable practices.

A mega awareness program on waste segregation was held at Town Hall Kupwara, organized by JKPCC with support from the Forest Department, Municipal Committee, Traders Federation, and schools. The event featured live demonstrations, a presentation on solid waste management, and concluded with a collective pledge to adopt responsible practices.

Simultaneously, plantation drives were conducted at Devsar Wetland Natnussa, Bagh-e-Tahseen Keegam, various institutions and government offices in Drugmulla Block, and at Machil, with active participation of the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara and other officers.

At the grassroots level, environmental awareness and cleanliness drives were organized at Middle School Bhagat Mohalla Karihama and Primary School Tidden Nagsari, spreading the message of conservation among students. In Karnah Range of Kehmil Division, a plastic-free campaign at GHSS Tadd and a plantation drive at Teetwal saw enthusiastic participation of the Commissioner Secretary RDD, Forest and FPF staff, and school children, reflecting the spirit of collective action.

Speaking on the occasion, DFO Kamraj, Shri Owais Mir, said: “SEWA PARV is not just a celebration but a reminder of our shared responsibility towards nature. Through plantation, cleanliness, and awareness campaigns, the Forest Department seeks to inspire communities to embrace sustainable practices and contribute to the protection of our forests, wetlands, and environment. These small steps, taken collectively, will secure a greener future for our generations.”

The events concluded with participants reaffirming their commitment to environmental protection under the SEWA PARV–2025 banner.
