AIP Expresses Solidarity with Gurez Fire Victims, Seeks Immediate Relief & Rehabilitation

Srinagar, August 31: Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi has expressed deep anguish over the devastating fire incident in Kashpat village of Tulail, Gurez, that damaged at least 20 structures and left 25 people injured.

Inam Un Nabi said “This tragedy has shaken an already vulnerable community living in one of the remotest corners of our Valley. Entire families have lost their homes, barns, fodder and livestock which are the only means of survival in the harsh terrain of Gurez. We stand shoulder to shoulder with the affected families in this hour of grief and suffering,”

Inam lauded the swift response of locals, Army, police and medical teams in controlling the fire and providing relief but stressed that the government must not restrict itself to temporary firefighting. “This tragedy yet again exposes the lack of preparedness, firefighting infrastructure and communication facilities in remote areas like Gurez. The absence of proper connectivity and modern fire control systems is costing precious lives and livelihoods. The government must immediately provide adequate compensation, ensure rehabilitation of the victims before winter sets in and establish permanent fire and emergency units in far-flung regions like Tulail.”
