Doon School Srinagar holds annual investiture ceremony, new student council sworn in

Srinagar, Apr 21 (CNS): Doon School Srinagar on Tuesday held its Annual Investiture Ceremony-2026, formally inducting the newly elected Student Council in the presence of senior army officers, guests and school leadership.

  The ceremony began with a formal reception for Chief Guest Major General Abhijeet Mitra (GOC 31 Sub Area), Guest of Honour Colonel Rajeev Bhooshan and Special Guest Abrar Khan Tareen, who were received by Chairman Showkat Hussain Khan, the Principal and student prefects.

Addressing the gathering, Chairman Showkat Hussain Khan highlighted the school’s focus on character building and leadership development. The Chief Guest and Guest of Honour were also felicitated during the event.

During the oath-taking ceremony, the Principal administered the pledge to newly elected Head Boy Hassan and Head Girl Mufti Fajr. Badges and sashes were pinned on the student leaders by Major General Abhijeet Mitra and Chairman Showkat Hussain Khan, marking the formal assumption of their responsibilities.

Speaking on the occasion, the newly elected student leaders pledged to uphold the values and legacy of the institution. Major General Mitra, in his address, emphasized discipline, courage and selfless service, urging students to lead with responsibility and empathy.

  The event also featured cultural performances, including a musical presentation and a traditional Kashmiri folk performance.

The ceremony concluded with the School Anthem and a vote of thanks.
